We live in such a beautiful region of France! The Languedoc is now called Occitanie and now takes in a large area of the South West of France. There is so much to see and do in Occitanie. Holiday time is precious and its essential to choose both the right location and b&b in Languedoc. We hope that our website and guest reviews will convince you that La Souqueto is the ideal base for either a long weekend or extended holiday.
The name of our village MIREPEISSET literally means ‘the place to see fish’ – no doubt due to the proximity of the river Cesse (just behind La Souqueto), and the Canal du Midi itself and small Tapas bar a short walk away down a path shaded by mature Plane trees.

Swim in the clear spring fed water of the river Cesse or read a book in the sunshine on the small shingle beaches alongside it…Why not take a long walk or cycle ride along the Canal du Midi too! Don’t forget, we also run Canal du midi boat trips on Bella Mia our boat.
Our region has over 300 days of sunshine a year. La Souqueto is the perfect base for walking and cycling in the Black Mountains or visiting the numerous Cathar villages and Castles.
How could one possibly resist all that fabulous seasonal produce on display in the colourful open air markets throughout the year at local villages such as Olonzac or St. Chinian?
The pretty neighbouring village of Le Somail throughout spring and summer has cafe’s, restaurants and art galleries as well as a floating ‘epicerie’ and a must-visit bookshop of ancient books..
The beaches of The Med are within 30 minutes’ drive of La Souqueto. At Grussian one can learn to sail, wind or kite surf. Or, for the lovers of natural beaches we can give you directions the most perfect spot that only the locals visit. Bage, Peyriac-de-Mer and Leucate are a must to visit too!
And of course one of the biggest attractions in this wonderful region is its vine yards and the famous Minervois wines.
