The Advantages

Local knowledge

We just love sharing our considerable knowledge of this area with our guests. Our blog and our Instagram page provide an initial insight into some of the fabulous things to see and do in the Languedoc.

Wine Tastings

Our annual ‘long weekends of wine tours ’ have been very well received. We explore out-of-the-way vineyards that offer quality, affordable wine.

Vibrant & Unspoiled

The Languedoc region of France as it is formerly known, but now part of the larger Occitanie department, has a vibrant and unspoiled landscape with rivers and gorges that cut through massive swathes of protected National Parkland, rocky peaks and awe inspiring Castles and hundreds of family owned vineyards producing great quality wine.

Canal du Midi

The stunning UNESCO listed Canal du Midi runs from Bordeaux towards the sun drenched Mediterranean coast where some of the quietest, natural sandy beaches in France exist

City breaks

The city of Carcassone is an hour away and Narbonne and Beziers are twenty minutes from our properties. The Spanish border with Girona and Barcelona are in easy reach too.

Even in Winter

And, if you fancy skiing, you can be on piste on the Pyrenees within two hours.

The News

We offer our guests unique tours on the Canal du Midi…

We are delighted to announce that 2025 will see us resuming our well received boat tours on the Canal du Midi…Our Classic Broads Cruiser Bella Mia is currently undergoing restoration work and so we have acquired Nova a 12.5 metre coastal cruiser to take guests for trips along the southern stretches of the Canal du Midi.

We offer a variety of tours from 2 hour excursions to full day. During the past twelve years we have arranged some memorable days out for guests. We taken them by boat to Auberge de la Croisade, a fabulous restaurant situated on the banks of the Canal one and a half ours from our mooring (10 mins by car). Then taken them back to base after lunch by boat.

We’ve taken a family of four to the famous Fonseranes Locks in Beziers. It’s a 4 hour trip so we moored up for the night; the family then walked into the City to explore and have an evening meal before staying on the boat over night. I returned the following morning to do the return trip. Over the years we’ve hosted birthday parties, renewing of wedding vows, wine tasting and family gatherings on our boat. Its a great day out!

The Canal du Midi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built between 1667 and 1694. It paved the way for the French Industrial Revolution. The Canal’s purpose was to make a direct connection between the Atlantic and Mediterranean. It is over 240 km long and winds through four French departments.

You may wish to combine your stay at La Souqueto B&B with a night or two on Nova boat. Contact us directly to discuss your requirements.
