Wines of La Clape

In May every year, Sentiers Gourmands through the Grand Narbonne Tourist Information organise a wines of La Clape extravaganza. It combines a walk through vineyards with a 6 Course paired meal combined with a vineyard walk. La Clape is an important appellation within the Languedoc zone in Southern France. Wine production in the area dates back to around 600BC. It became truly established during the Roman period; Julius Caesar awarded land grants in the area to his best troops, and many turned to viticulture.

Each year a different vineyard hosts the event. The walk itself is punctuated by stops to taste wines paired with each food Course. For around €60 per head walkers and wine buffs can take the whole day to wander through various connected vineyards in this coastal area near Gruissan.

From Oysters to Frois Grois, moules and pigeon, cheese, desert and coffee and at the end of the day the chance to buy the wines that you selected along the way!
