Fonseranes Locks

The Fonsranes Locks are the third most popular tourist destination in Occitanie and just 25 minutes from La Souqueto Accommodation.

They consist of eight oval shaped staircase lock chambers on the Canal du Midi near Beziers. The locks, completed in the 17th Century allow boats to be raised over 21.5 metres in height.

There is a dedicated car park for those visiting FonseransLocks and a board walk  ramp that leads to a really interesting visitor Centre with attached Restaurant. Its great fun watching the boats tackle the locks especially taking the flight up where they face a wall of water as the lock gates open.
